چکیده

In hydrological research, flood events can be analyzed by hydrograph coincidence. The duration of the is a key variable to calculate coincidence risk probability and determining whether occurs, while actual neglected in most existing related research. This paper creatively proposes novel method analyze establishing five-dimensional joint distribution volumes, durations interval time for two hydrologic stations. More specifically, taking annual maximum upper Yangtze River input from Dongting Lake as an example, Pearson Type III mixed von Mises distributions were used establish marginal time. Subsequently, based on vine copula was established probability. results verified comparison with historical sequence, which show that during 1951–2002, probabilities corresponding its event volumes 2.00 × 1011 m3, 4.00 6.00 m3 are 0.213, 0.123, 0.049, respectively. It has provided theoretical support control safety management middle lower River. study also demonstrates significant beneficial role regulation Three Gorges Water Conservancy Project mitigating volume decreased 0.141.

Assessing Terrestrial Water Storage and Flood Potential Using GRACE Data in the Yangtze River Basin, China

Floods have caused tremendous economic, societal and ecological losses in the Yangtze River Basin (YRB) of China. To reduce the impact of these disasters, it is important to understand the variables affecting the hydrological state of the basin. In this study, we used Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) satellite data, flood potential index (FPI), precipitation data (Tropical Rainfa...

Genetic variation and population dispersal of Yangtze voles Microtus fortis calamorum in the Dongting Lake region

To understand genetic variation and population dispersal in the Yangtze vole Microtus fortis calamorum distributed in the Dongting Lake region, 144 individuals were collected from six habitat patches. The mitochondrial DNA control region was sequenced and 17 haplotypes were observed. Of the six investigated populations, haplotype and nucleotide diversities of those from larger patches were high...

CGE Analysis of Yangtze River Delta in China

This study develops a multi-region computable general equilibrium model (CGE model) with considering limited factor movement on the regional economy of Yangtze River Delta (YRD) in China. In broadly, YRD is composed of Shanghai City, Jiangsu province, and Zhejiang province. It has been achieved remarkable economic growth in the recent three decades. It was identified as a national-level regiona...

The 7-decade degradation of a large freshwater lake in central Yangtze River, China.

Freshwater lakes store water for human use and agricultural irrigation and provide habitats for aquatic fauna and flora. However, a number of these lakes have been degraded by human activities at a rapid rate. Here, we used historical land cover information and remotely sensed data to explore a 7-decade (between 1930s and 1998) shrinkage and fragmentation of Dongting Lake, the second largest fr...
